The Potty Caddy

6 Aug

My toddler is potty training now. I have been looking for a cute little potty training that could grab her attention. Since my favorite Barnes & Noble store is going out of business, which really breaks my heart:-(, I decided to visit and actually got lots of books at a big discount. One of the treasures I decided to get was a giant book of mother goose nursery rhymes. However, my hubby and I were looking for a potty book. He ended up finding a great one called, “The Potty Caddy”.

The Potty Caddy is actually a potty caddy or kit that helps children understand the concept of how to potty. It includes a Potty Caddy book, A roll of tissue, and tiny little toddler magazines.

It has cute stickers, a potty chart, and 100 toilet targets that my son can use. So, I have to recommend this genius and fancy little caddy.

Markers & Crayons & Pens…OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!

6 Aug

I have to start this by saying OMGEEEEE! I have been trying to find a way to make my little girls room perfect again. I am so happy that she enjoys playing with her toys and exploring her bedroom. However, when my baby girl began writing on the walls, her milestones turned into a messy expression of art in the wrong place.

I searched and serched google for answers on how other moms get these marks off of their walls and I found all sorts of suggestions. The one that worked for me is drumroll……….. Hand sanitizer!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, hand sanitizer. I couldn’t believe it. However, with a little elbow grease, like mom use to say, the crayon, pensil, pen, and markers stains came off of her wall.

Eventually her room was back to normal

It worked wonders!

Beautiful Diva (Urban Beauty Hair)

5 Apr

Growing up, I had plans of becoming a master cosmetologist with a glorious spa/salon in a beautiful home in some fancy neighborhood. Instead of doing that, I ended up studying opera, creative writing, and eventually early childhood education. However, over the years hair is still a passion of mine that I never gave up. As a child I was styling my mother’s hair with sew in’s and cuts. For some of my friends, I would perm and set their hair or give them other cute styles that were hot at the time. In college, hair was that hustle that I needed when money was short and I needed that new history book. Today, I am still thinking about pursuing my first passion because of the excitement and hustle it creates in me. This is the reason why I will add the beautiful diva section to divahood so that i could share some of my styles.

Black Beauty

I named this look black beauty because of the jet black hair I decided to use. I usually like to wear classy, soft layered styles that can blend with my natural hair.

This is a sew in weave using Urban Beauty’s inches long.

Urban Beauty

I chose 1 and 1B hair color. Sometimes you have to find the right color hair that will keep you from looking pale or you can just add some brown to soften the dark color. This hair color looks good with a tan. Yes! Kissed by the sun, but black girls can tan and bronze a little too.;-) I have always been happy with the urban beauty brand.  If you haven’t already check it out divas!

Perfectly Pink Birthday

1 Apr

Perfectly Pink Birthday

Having a little girl has been such a wonderful blessing to my life. As a child, like most little girls, I dressed up my dolls, did their hair, and named them. Remember the doll kenya with the beads, hair bows, and braids? Well, those memories are nice but we all know that our daughters require a bit more, and we want to give them the world. For those who are determined to reach this goal on a budget, ( lol!) I have some great examples of how you can give your little divas the perfect pink birthday.

  1. Theme

Figure out a theme for your baby girl’s special day. You can begin with choosing the colors you would like to use for the party or a character that your child adores. You can’t go wrong with the color pink and a splash of Hello Kitty. Just choose a theme that will make your child smile.

  1. Birthday clothing

Shopping for small children is so exciting! Every mom knows you can find great deals on quality clothing if you look before you shop. There are so many unique clothing lines for children on the internet. One line that I found is called Lilliputians. Lilliputians Cupcake Cutie Black & Hot Pink Birthday Skirt Outfit had some of the coolest birthday outfits I’d ever seen. The outfit that I was considering for my daughter is one of the many fabulous birthday outfits that you can choose from. You can find this beautiful clothing on the net for different prices. The Lilliputians cupcake cutie black & hot pink birthday skirt outfit can be found here: http://babybirthdayboutique.com/item_2178/Liliputians-Cupcake-Cutie-Black-Hot-Pink-Birthday-Skirt-Outfit.htm

For my baby’s birthday, I went with a hello kitty theme. After she was born, her first gift was a hello kitty from build a bear. If she pressed the paws she could hear me singing a lullaby to her.She is a big hello kitty fan. Hello kitty is cute and sometimes blinged out; A perfect combination making it a favorite in my home for my baby and me. This love for the cartoon character led me in my  decision to choose the pinkest, fluffy sparkle dress I could find. Her dress was about twenty dollars and her little pink pearls were under three dollars from target.

3. cake

Cup cakes are the new trend for every event from birthday parties to wedding. So, I decided to get a baker to make my daughter a batch of hello kitty cupcakes. The red velvet cupcakes were delicious! The freshly baked cupcakes were purchased from CEO Custom Cakes & Novelties. When my daughter saw these wonderful cupcakes she gave the baker the biggest smile.

4. Guest list

Dont worry about not having lots of kids to invite to the second birthday. At two, my child is not quite the socialite yet. However, we had a couple of family members over, and she knew that everything was about her.

I set up the dining room with pink balloons, hello kitty decorations, and even included some extra robot gift bags and place settings for my little boy. This is a good way to include the siblings and keep them from feeling left out, girl or boy.

Gift Bags from Target.

The robot bags are cute, but my son’s favorite part of the party was eating cupcakes and ice cream.

5. Party favors and gifts

Motherhood allows us all to learn. The party made me think of the stories my mom and aunts would tell about their simple christmas holidays back in the day. They didn’t get large gifts and gadgets like many children do now. However, they enjoyed good music, good food and just a good time. I guess their fruit and candy filled christmas stories inspired me to fill my daughters gift bags up with all sorts of goodies. The bag was filled with hello kitty stickers, crayons, notepads. She had sunglasses, candy, and coloring books. These party city gifts might seem simple, but to a little girl who loves to draw on walls and has a secret stash of crayons hidden somewhere, the gifts were perfect.

Hello kitty decor from party city.

Divas, I found the ice cream bowls and plate sets at target. These sets had matching cups and were priced around 99cents each. These kid friendly dish sets are a great alternative to buying paper plates.

The day was a great success! My daughter adored her hello kitty birthday room and I am looking forward to my baby boy’s birthday in november so that I can do it all again.
